Common questions about connections, vehicle data, and firmware.

Connection

OBD2 found, but ECU will not connect

Bluetooth may be connected to the ELM327 while the ECU is still asleep. Turn the ignition ON or start the engine and wait for another attempt. Some vehicles do not power the engine ECU in ACC.

Which ELM327 adapters are supported?

Testing currently covers adapters reporting v1.5 and v2.1 over the Bluetooth transport supported by the firmware. Other versions have not yet been tested. Adapter quality strongly affects speed and stability.

Vehicle data

Why do vehicles show different data?

Supported standard PIDs vary by model, year, engine, and manufacturer. The system shows only values actually detected.

Is fuel consumption as accurate as the factory display?

It is calculated from ECU data and is useful for trends and comparisons. For maximum accuracy, use a full-tank measurement.

Firmware

Will an update erase settings?

OTA normally preserves NVS data. A full install or flash erase can remove Wi-Fi, tile, trip, and other settings.

Display colors look wrong after Wi-Fi

Power-cycle once. If it happens again, install the latest firmware and provide the version and serial log for diagnosis.

License

Do I need to repurchase after reinstalling?

No. If the license is tied to that board Chip ID, select “Purchase / restore license” and connect to Wi-Fi to restore it.
